Stewardship and Young Adults - An Invitation to Help Change the World

What Is Catholic Stewardship?

It is a spirituality (i.e. hence a way of life) made of four parts:

• Receiving the gifts of God with gratitude
  
• Cultivating them responsibly
  
• Sharing them lovingly in justice with others
  
• Standing before the Lord in a spirit of accountability
  

Reflection Questions

1. What resources, talents, and abilities has God given me? Do I use them in service to others? How might I take the next step to become a more effective steward?
   
2. What qualities in the life of Jesus provide a model for living and an example of good stewardship? How might they compare to my own life and lived experience?
   
3. If I am to work to be an effective Christian steward, with the help of God's grace, what will it cost me in terms of personal sacrifice and hardship? Am I willing to take the next step?
   
4. How am I reaching out to invite others to recognize their gifts? What opportunities do I provide for them to employ those gifts for the good of the community?
   

Change the World

II. Stages of Revelation

1a. Nuh
-terjadi sebelum menara babel
-Nuh membuat perahu di daratan, dikatain kurang waras oleh orang2 sekitar
-air bah meluap, menghapus semua kehidupan
-air berhubungan dengan babtism, tanda kelahiran bumi baru
-sons of God adalah sons of Seth dimana Seth adalah pengganti Habel
daugthers of men adalah keturunan Kain
-Peristiwa ini menunjukkan kemarahan Allah terhadap kejahatan manusia yang begitu besar
-Keluarga Nuh: 8 orang-4 pasang

1b. Menara Babel
-keinginan untuk menjadi seperti Allah
-Allah tritunggal marah, mengacaukan bahasa

2. Abraham
-covenant dengan Tuhan, dijanjikan sebagai bapa dari segala bangsa
-circumcision sebagai salah satu tanda covenant, melambangkan bahwa iman seseorang (dalam hal ini Abraham) dipakai untuk menyelamatkan orang lain

3. Joseph
-Ahli mimpi

4. David
-Raja kedua setelah Saul

5. Solomon
-Sangat bijaksana
-dihukum Tuhan, kerajaan Israel dipecah dua: Northern (Israel), dan Southern (Judah)

6. Jonah
-dari Northern Kingdom, akan diserang oleh kerajaan Assyria ibukotanya Niniveh
-orang yang kadang berontak kepada Tuhan masih dipakai juga oleh Tuhan

7. Daniel
-Northern Kingdom yang sudah dikuasai oleh kerajaan Babilonia dibawah Nebukadnezzar
-menerjemahkan mimpi Raja tentang pohon, ramalan ttg keruntuhan Babilonia
-Juga bekerja di bawah Belsaizar, anak Nebukadnezzar yang melihat tulisan di dinding
-Tuhan selalu memperhatikan anak-anaknya

8. Zakhariah
-Northern Kingdom dibawah Raja Sirus yang membiarkan Jews kembali ke Yerusalem
-Mengoarkan agar orang Israel kembali ke jalan yang benar

9. Joel
-Southern Kingdom yang kaya mulai melupakan Allah
-Menyerukan supaya bertobat dan kembali ke jalan kebenaran

10. Isaiah
-Southern Kingdom
-Nabi pertama yang mengabarkan ttg Messiah
-Memberi karasteristik Allah sbg Allah yang suci dan kudus dan benci akan dosa
-Messiah dijuluki sbg Prince of Peace tapi juga Pelayan yang Humble
-menyerukan pertobatan dan harapan

11. Jeremiah
-Southern Kingdom di bawah Babilonia
-Menyerukan pertobatan
-King Josaya yang bertobat, tapi rakyat Israel yang belum patuh bertobat
-Memberi kabar ttg Messiah sbg perjanjian baru yg diberikan Allah

12. Nehemia
-Southern Kingdom di bawah raja Sirus dari Babilonia
-Jews kembali ke Yerusalem
-Menganjurkan agar bangsa Israel membangun benteng dan temple
-pesan supaya rajin berdoa, berharap dan berjaga-jaga

Summary for part One:
I. Desire for God

1. As his creation, man is given the desire of God in his heart
2. Man is a "religious being"
3. this grace can be forgotten/ignored bcoz of original sin
4. God never ceases to find men although they reject Him

II. Ways of coming to know God

1. From the desire, man can seek God from 2 ways: physical world & human soul
2. The beauty of the world reflects part of God
3. Human have spiritual souls that leads to God
4. Human beings are creations, God is the Creator
5. Due to sinful nature, man cannot fully grasp the truth. God is willing to reveal Himself to man

III. The knowledge of God according to the Church

1. Men has ability to know God
2. There are obstacles for men to do this alone
3. Men need God's revelation to know complete Truth

IV.
1. Men are limited being, some part of God is still incomprehensible

Part Two:
51) Word made Flesh -> John . God will to reveal Himself through Christ.
52) This is for human to be able to respond to Him, knowing Him & loving Him
53) There are ways gradually to Christ
